Off to Camp–One & All!

Our house has seen a dramatic change.

We remembered the Brattleboro Park & Rec Department camps... and we happily enrolled our eight-year-old.

The Main Way to Beat the Heat

Heat Wave!

A lot of the country is sweltering this week with record-highs under a dome of hot air that has even pushed its way back to the west. Vermont is no exception.

No Matter Where We Are...

Taking Time To Enjoy

As the blog says, a "slice of life from Vermont"...  This was a regular day today--in every way except that it is truly extraordinary.

Vacation Differences?

What Should Kids Do?

Somewhere around the crack of 11 AM, they pile out of their air-conditioned bedroom.  It might be just my two sons (12 and 14).  Or there may be a group of them.  Either way, they wander out, blurry-eyed and grunting when I talk to them.  They are barely one step above sleep walking, and relish their slow entry into the day.

Is there anything much cuter than little baby animals?

A Happy Mess!

Kids in the Strawberry Patch

During the holiday weekend, we searched around for some memory-making-moments for the youngest of our group.  Only 18 months old, what could she do that would also entertain the 14, 12 and 8 year olds?

Good family time!

Shortcake supper

It's tradition for communities to offer annual "strawberry shortcake" suppers around here... and we thought we should try it out.

Planning for Another?

Farm Fest Success

The weather was perfect.  The music lovely.  The food declared "great".

Even the beef herd came down to the closest pasture for photos by the guests!

What more could we ask for during our first ever "Farm Fest" during the Strolling of the Heifers' weekend?

Everything Is Ready!

Tropical Storm Andrea is on the east coast right now... but we are hoping to have it all cleared up for the "world famous" STROLLING OF THE HEIFERS at 10 AM tomorrow!

We are excited to have people visiting Franklin Farm for tours (including milking!)--and coming to the Robb Family Farm tomorrow night!

I've never been literally in the middle of a herd of cows that paid less attention to me than today's selected photo shoot!

How Memorial Day Visit Turned Out

Where Did We Go?

It's amazing how planning the day's activities out ahead of time made things more enjoyable.  We've sometimes tried to just "wing it", but inevitably, people just do better with at least the outline of a plan.
